I’ve always been a fan of vintage. There’s just something about it that makes me swoon. Maybe its the combination of old and new, knowing that something has a story behind it, a previous life makes it even more interesting. I love the textures and colors of vintage items and well clearly when I saw this nursery… I died a little. Still unsure what I will be doing for bébé girl’s nursery this definitely sparks some inspiration.

I will feature more lovely nurseries that are worth highlighting, and hopefully ours will be 1/10 as pretty as these!

Ma garde-robe : Purchase Dec & Jan

In my 2012 image post, I mentioned how this year it was all about image and that I would be working on my outfits to be a little more presentable. I said I would purchase 1 item a month (on sale) to slowly built a selection I would be proud of. Right now, it’s all unmatchy items, some with holes others that just are screaming to be given away so it’s time to start planning. I’m guilty of keeping clothes “in case” I lose weight. Let’s get serious, it’s been in my closet for years and I’ve never worn it… so I think it’s also time to donate those items too.

I cheated and decided to start just a few days before the new years. So right after Christmas, I wanted to take advantage of the boxing day sales (our Canadian version of Black Friday) and seeing I have the hardest time to find boots, (been searching for 3 years) I didn’t think I would be successful. I decided to go into Sears (a store I rarely go in) and came across these beauties!!! (which were 40% off!!!) I was beyond excited that they actually fit my calves and even had room for my jeans!!! SCORE!!! Originally 99,99$ marked down 79,99$ and 40% off that, they cost me 55$ taxes in!!!

Then for my January purchase, I came across this beautiful Chain Lock Bowler Bag in Ivory from Urban Oufitters. It was originally 69,99$, reduced to 49,99$ and I happened to have a 20% discount on top of that! So my bag ended up being 43% off!!! Sweet deal once again. I haven’t received the bag yet (awaiting anxiously) but based on the reviews this is a FAB bag!!!

Now, seeing I got a boots and a purse I have no choice but to buy a piece of clothing or an accessory. It might be a little tough seeing I’m 23 weeks pregnant, but I’m sure I can find universal pieces… or at least I hope so. What’s a must have in your wardrobe? Clearly I need a check list of essential clothing pieces.

Lack of Maternity Wear in Canada

Let me start off by saying Canadians have crappy crappy maternity stores. We have very few stores that offer maternity lines and it makes it that much harder for us to look good. Sure there are a lot of online stores who offer great lines, but majority of the time they either don’t ship to Canada or if they do they charge astronomical prices and that’s excluding and additional duties and fees. Let’s just say that it makes it that much harder to shop.

I’m sure many will say… ya, but there’s Gap Maternity, Pea in a Pod, Destination Maternity and even Target. Well …. we don’t have any of that here. Only Motherhood Maternity made it’s way across the border and very little options from Old Navy too. The stores that we do have is Thyme Maternity, Mexx Maternity (with very little choice), Du-Date Maternity and H&M maternity. Everything else is non-existant (unless I am clueless of what’s out there, but I’ve search endlessly with very little or no results.) What drives me bananas is that because of the lack of options, I fell like all pregnant woman look the same because we clearly shop at all the same stores. (Most popular : Thyme Maternity) The fact that there aren’t many options allows the stores to boost their prices and have very little sales. Definitely not good for my budget and my plan to be debt-free.

Not having style while pregnant is not good especially with hormones going wild. So what do Canadians Momma’s do? Where do they go? Or do you know of any stores that ship to Canada for cheap?

Joyfolie is going big time!

So remember how I blogged about the most adorable baby girl shoes (and how I even own some but I don’t even have a girl) Well, Joyfolie is still one of my favorite places to buy unique girl shoes (I give them as gifts) they are beautiful and in September she launched the manufactured line to be able to keep up with demand! (Here are just a few styles)

She has been working extra long hours to offer the lines to the mass public (and well to get her name out there) So a couple of weeks ago…. her manufactured lines (well 3 pairs) can be found at Anthropologie (for Kids). Plus in the next week or so, they will be available at Gap and Piperlime. (Quick savers tip, the shoes/boots available on these sites are actually cheaper if purchased from the Joyfolie site itself)

Seeing I don’t have a girl, I’m definitely looking forward to the launch of her woman shoes. Here is a sneek peek.

Olives Friend Pop

Vintage inspired baby girl clothes. Makes my ovaries hurt. No joke. If ever I have a girl for baby deux… she might be my little doll and I will be playing a whole lot of dress up with her. :]

Do you know of some great brands that’s vintage inspired? Maybe some that offer boy clothes ?

Pretty Laundry

Clearly if you saw my laundry room you’d understand what my obsession is with laundry rooms. I have clothes EVERYWHERE (even behind my washing machine – don’t laugh) and I really want to organize my laundry room so that, it too is as important as the other spaces in my house. I think if I make a prettier space, I’d be more inclinded to use it. Can you believe I have a brand new iron and ironing board still in the box, never been used?! I know… how sad is that.

I am loving all the storage and clothes hanging solutions found at Ikea. I really think once I’m done my office, I will make the laundry room a priority. I want to install a counter over our washer and dryer, put nice containers with detergent, pretty storage for the solo socks and even something pretty to hang my clothes to dry. So bare with me if you see a little more laundry room inspiration.

How’s your laundry room? Anything you suggest to be a MUST HAVE?

Design-It-Yourself : Headboards

Loving these easy to do, DIY headboards. Who said you need something pricey to get the desired look. A little paint, repurposed items and voila something drab to fab. I unfortunately have a built in headboard on my bed but trust me when I say when I will buy a new bed…. I am definitely going all out with my headboard.

I am loving the mixture of typography, but I’m not sure I see this work well for a headboard. Sure for wall art but regardless it’s inspiring.

I am liking the idea of using a mantle. How pretty is this? Obviously I would make sure the frames or decoration were well “fixed” incase you decide to have some adult playtime in bed (if you know what I mean)

The idea of using doors is amazing. You can find an inexpensive vintage decorative door and paint it. Maybe the molding 1 color and the rest another. How pretty would that be?!

Would you or have you attempted to make your own headboard? Are you more paint, wood or fabric?

I love that even now, vintage glamour is HOT. As in everyone wants to pull it off, heck I wish I could. I especially love this July 2011 Vogue Espana shoot. Doesn’t Crystal Renn pull of that glam look so well. How I wish I lived in those days (well for the fashion at least)

I absolutely adore her style, her eye for all things pretty and not to mention her rocking vintage look… and I mean did you see her blog?! All sorts of amazing. Kuddos to the designer of that as well. Like I said, I’d love to be her. Girl Crush! <3
