Yesterday was a great day, I mean a great shopping day… because my dining room is almost complete eeeeeeeee (so excited) We decided to make a trip to the infamous IKEA… and well, 300$ later, I have all the pieces for my dining room. I was missing some decor elements and a bookcase to store some elements still in boxes.
I never really blogged about my house decor and I think I will put that to an end rather quickly. But before I go ahead an show you real pics… I thought a collage would be a great way for you to understand my vision. Glam girl myself and sooooo lucky the hubby loves it as well, it was obvious that my dining room would scream vintage glam. (anyway, I hope so)
For Christmas, I was lucky to inherit my step moms vintage Royal Albert teacup collection which belonged to her mom. I am a devoted fan to tea and these teacups scream ME… so obviously when I opened the gift, I balled. (Seriously)

All the elements in the collage is what I own and what will be featured in my dinning room. Table and Chairs, Chandelier and even peonies, (well, when I will cut them from my flower garden – even more excited about that) I can’t wait to display my beautiful teacups and recipe books in my bookcase. The white will look awesome against my taupey gray walls. Can’t wait to show you the final finished product and not to mention host real tea parties … yipee
Shopping list:
Table: Store from Maison Corbeil – 1495$ (CND)
Chairs: Riveria from Maison Corbeil – 195$ /each (CND)
Pitcher Vase : SOCKERÄRT from Ikea – 24.99$ (CND)
Vintage royal albert teacups: mine
Bookcase : SMÅDAL from Ikea – 159$ (CND)
White Chandelier from Bowring – 199$ (CND)
So what do you think? all I know is that I ♥ it

When we purchased our house back in September, I was super excited that I would have my own Blush!nk office. I wanted to set it up so that maybe one day I could receive clients at home… well because, we all want to be able to have our own company and live off it (right?). I had big plans for my office… but that’s pretty much it. 5 months later, still nothing is done (well apart a turquoise painted room, and a white desk – from Ikea )
Now that I am pregnant, I really want to complete my office before the little one shows up. Problem… I have no clue how to set it up. Le Sigh.
Here are the colors of my website + blog and stationery

I wanted to print out my blog pattern as a wall paper to put on 1 wall… but dunno where I can get that done for cheap. I wanted to print my logo on a big canvas and frame it (in a white frame) so that it would pop against the turquoise wall… that hasn’t been done. And this doesn’t even include the countless boxes that are lying around on my office floor. (I would take a picture but… I don’t think you want to see it)
Here is some office inspiration to give you an idea of what I like :

Wall paper idea, I was talking about.

Love the shelving and color coordinated storage

Love the white elements against the sage green walls

Love the collage of vintage elements, frames and typography as wall decor
Now, to make things a little more complicated… I have a 6 foot Crystal tree and a vintage retro (1970s) sewing machine integrated in a desk in my office. I wanted to paint my sewing machine desk (in white) and cover the chair with fabric that I purchased for cheap. (but that’s not done either)
What I do have :
- Work Desk (White)
- Black Filing Cabinet
- Gray Desk Chair
- 1 gray painted bookshelf
- Curtains
- Large 23 x 40 White Frame (to frame logo)
What I need:
- White Wall Shelves + White Bookshelf
- Desk Storage
- Patterned Wallpaper
- Printed logo on Canvas
- 2 chairs (to put in front of my desk – for future clients)
- Wall Decoration
Any tips on how I can get this project rolling? I think the overwhelming of it all is throwing me back. But I want this done before baby comes. Egh. If you have a home office… did it take you forever to get it done?

This week, I will be at 21 weeks… Exciting isn’t it? I’m actually more than half way there and it also means that the ultrasound is right around the corner. This Wednesday we will know for sure whether we are having a girl or a boy. I have to say, I am very excited… even though I originally didn’t want to know. But just knowing, will make things alot easier. (say in decorating the room
) I invited my mommy and stepmom to the ultrasound to learn the news at the same time as us.

source
When I did my first ultrasound, at 13 weeks, the doctor asked us if we wanted to know the sex of the baby. When we said yes, he told us that 85% it was a “blank”. Since it was still early in the pregnancy the doctor specifically told us to wait until the next ultrasound. (aka the one coming up) so that’s exactly what we did.
“What do you think it is Kelly?” People ask me… I have no freaken clue. All these things they say how you’re suppose to have a feeling, a maternal instinct on the gender of the child. Well that aint my case. Sure, I can say “a girl” because I always thought my first child would be a girl. But that is based merely on what I would want and not what I am feeling. Anyhow… do you really feel what your baby is before hand? All I know I have this little being growing inside me.
So what do you think… is baby part of team blue or team pink?

When we moved in our house in September, we decided to paint the “future” baby room right away since we were painting the whole house anyway. We opted for a neutral color so that whether we had a boy or a girl we could always dress up the room with accessories, wall decoration and bedding. and wouldn’t need to paint it all over again. The bedroom already had some wainscoting… which was exactly what I wanted for baby’s future room.
I knew I wanted chocolate brown furniture in the room when I saw the image below. I liked the look of it with the pale wainscoting and walls. Even though the furniture is more of a walnut color (in the image), it gives an overall idea of the color differences.

source
We painted the wainscoting a pure white, and the top part a grayish/purpley color (middle color – smoked oyster) The color looks a little more purple than what you see on screen. I didn’t want a pure gray because I didn’t want the room to feel cold. So have a tint of color warmed it up just a bit.

I’m really happy with the color choice for the room. Neutral, yet can still be gender focused when paired with other colors. So say we have a girl, we can accent with pinks and/or purples and if we have a boy we could go green and/or blue. Below is a variety of possibilities for color choices.

(the image above is actually the nursery 3-piece set we got for the nursery – in espresso)

Now, I know that before I can start decorating… I need to 1) Choose the bedding 2) Decide if I want a theme (no animals please) 3) Run it by the hubby… heh I tend to make decisions without even asking him. I know bad Kelly (slaps hand)
So now, gotta choose some bedding. Any good sites with no-so-common baby bedding? I don’t want to have animals, planes, butterflies, trucks..etc (Ya I know I don’t have it easy) But I prefer having say a mixture of textures / patterns. Dots, Stripes, Tartan… what ever looks neat. I’m going for modern, yet fun. Something like this…

Oh Sarah Richardson (also known as my ultimate FAVE designer) you did it so well…Hopefully I can be 1/100 as good as you

This month has been a crazy one so far…. working on the new blog/website, weddings & birthdays left and right. The most important event yet, is the news I will share with all of yous. I got the news the week of my birthday so talk about a great birthday gift. We had put an offer on the house and we got the house…. so we are official home owners… Yipee!!!

We are moving in September 10th and thats when our life officially begins (even if we’ve been married almost a year) a house makes it so much more official. Here are some pictures taken by the realtor for listing purposes.

We love the openness of the main floor, its a huge reason why we purchased the place. Not only is it fun when you are hosting parties… but there are lots of windows and so much natural light comes in the house… even the basement. Now, that is a plus when buying a house ( no need to pay expensive electricity bills
)

The current owners did a great job decorating, even though I would change a couple of things, so I really hope when it will be our turn to re-decorate we will do an even better job. If thats even possible

I can’t wait to start decorating, do landscaping and making this house our own. It needs some exterior TLC but thats the reason I wanted a house to begin with. I’m gonna start an moodboard of decor magazine clippings. For you home owners, what advice would you give me for preparing myself for the big move?
You can check out more house pictures on my flickr account
