Interview: Onelove Photography
category: Photo & Montage
Today’s interview features the work of the talented Sara of Onelove Photography. You’ve probably seen her beautiful work before, since she’s been featured on several blogs, but now… you’ll know what started it all. What her passions are, and where she gets her inspiration. Happy reading

How did you come up with the name : onelove photography?
There are several reasons: I am obsessed with good music. I can’t get enough of it…I’ll go to at least 10 live shows a year, and my stereo is always going. I absolutely love the song, “One” by Bono… and “One Love” by Bob Marley…. Finally, this all comes together with my personal faith in God. I love how Erwin McManus puts is: “Love is not a four-letter word. God is love.” -. It embodies everything that means anything to me.

What made you start this business – the major turning point?
My sister. Several years ago, I was sitting with my sister chatting she said, “One love.” I said, “What?” And she said, “One love. It’s you. You should name your business ‘one love.’” I thought about it, and she was right. That’s where onelove started.
After shooting a few weddings back in 2002 and 2003, I started developing a special vision for creative, editorial (candid) weddings, and decided to launch onelove photography. I’ve found that so many clients are looking for someone to “tell a story” of their day in pictures, which is all I do! I was trained to “tell stories” (aka my BA in Photojournalsm) onelove exploded right away, and I’ve been trying to catch up with it ever since.

What inspires you?
Life. Real, strong, abundant life. I believe we are meant to have it to the full, living free. When we love ourselves, we can fully love those around us. I want to capture VIBRANCE and ROMANCE and just plain FUN! I have so much fun shooting, it’s contagious!

What is the best part about your job?
Duh! Being able to see and photograph people that are totally smitten over each other! I never get tired of seeing happy people. But also, I so so so love working in the outdoors, crafting photographic art with sunlight and color. It invigorates me. Creative professions are so wonderful!

Whats the process?
I am here to capture you in your element in a way you didn’t even know was possible…The greatest images are the simplest of moments, but with the right lens, angle, composition and light, it can look like a completely different place – I want all of my clients to be posed and creatively composed in such a way that they could be published in a magazine the next day. Regular people with real emotions, real style, and I will craft your world into an image oozing with color and emotive passion… Drawing the beauty out of you (sometimes we’re scared to let ourselves be real in front of a camera lens)…it’s my natural rhythm to create warm setting while shooting, everyone relaxes and can just be themselves.

Tell us a little about yourself, to get to know you more
I’ve spent the last 8 eight years in the professional sports world while shooting weddings. Working under Michael Zagaris (acclaimed rock-and roll photographer, currently Oakland A’s and San Francisco 49ers team photographer) all these years, I have been given the opportunity to freelance regularly for Getty Images, shooting the MLB and NBA Playoffs, US Open, MLS (yummy David Beckham!!!) and working with some of the most heralded professional athletes in the world.
I have been working out of the San Francisco area until December of 2009, when I moved down to Pasadena. I am now based in the LA region and so excited about shooting down here!
Thank you for the opportunity to share my work with your readers!
