Hey Typography lovers…. wanna see something I am sure you will love? Veer (you know the awesome site with typographic finds) recently launched a typographic mobile. I mean… what’s more awesome than that?

Typography Mobile from Veer: Each set of characters is laser cut from recycled back card and lined with colorful press sheets from Veer’s past marketing pieces. The typeface is Clarendon modified with Baskerville ornamentation.

ypography is something that fascinates me and when I found the work of Jessica Hische I knew I had to share. (but I’m sure you’ve seen her work before) In design school I’ve always wanted to create my own typography, but soon realized that I wasn’t made for that. I guess you accept it and move on… but there are people like Jessica who are beyond talented and to them…. its easy. Hurray for that! Because its amazing. Art in its best form.

Now, notice that pretty drop cap in the beginning of the post? Well its all part of the The Daily Drop Cap. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it before but it’s an ongoing project by typographer and illustrator Jessica Hische herself. Each day, a new hand-crafted decorative initial cap will be posted on this site and can be used for your enjoyment and for beautify your blog posts.

It’s really easy to use, once you find the drop cap of your choice, simply click on it and all the coding will be available to you so you may insert it in your post (html editor mode), delete the first letter of your post and click preview. Voila! A pretty letter to start your post.

Pages and pages of pretty drop caps will be found on her site. But it’s worth looking through every page. Each letter has its unique style. From various colors and shapes to being era focused… these letters are beautiful and have so many intricate details.

Check out her website for more typographic goodies. She even has an online shop for you fans
I’m seriously considering buying myself a Drop Cap to hang on my wall in my office… hmmm
So what are you waiting for, go check out The Daily Drop Cap for daily inspiration.

Once the Christmas Parade has passed, its official the holidays are really really near. Well for all you crafty peeps out there, here is a collection of festive fonts worthy of your handmade cards, tags and whatever project you have in mind.
The Font Bureau has highlighted a few faces that are perfect for the upcoming holidays.

Narcissus is based directly on a 1921 German revival of Fournier’s celebrated 18th-century ornamented types and conveys an organic charm.
Niagara Engraved, on the other hand, recalls the crisp, elegant, soaring geometry of the early 20th century.
Ironmonger Inlaid may have been originally inspired by wrought iron and perforated steel, but in the right context it can be surprisingly festive.
The Zingha Deco styles apply the engraved technique to more contemporary letterforms, in both upright and swash italic styles.
And Nutcracker is a design unto itself — conceived, as the name implies, especially to express the character of the season.
Happy Crafting/Designing

Typography has been a subject that has captured my attention from the moment I took that one class during my graphic design course. I mean, we had to analyze, re-create, and we got tested on the various typography and its makers. So, I always find myself looking at a buildboard, poster or advertisement and try and figure out if I know the name of the font used. (I know… I’m crazy)
But, with these beautiful hand drawn typography…. Since they are unique, new and not found in my typography books don’t apply to my daily routine. But aren’t they gorgeous? A piece of art?
