Hi! I’m Christina, and I’m guest blogging for Kelly today. Over at my blog, Perfect Laughter, I write about art and graphic design. Since we all have babies on the brain with Kelly on maternity leave, I thought I’d share some art with you that would be great for decorating a kids’ room or nursery. I chose things that were fun, a little different, and most importantly, affordable. Everything in this list is $30 (US) or less.
Kill Taupe: Crammed Organisms
Kill Taupe is from my hometown of Detroit, and I love the bright, funny characters he draws. This little print runs the gamut of outright adorable to faux scary. It has everything from cute cupcakes to one-eyed horned monsters. $15 in Kill Taupe’s shop.
The Little Friends of Printmaking: Year of the Tiger
This Year of the Tiger print from The Little Friends of Printmaking would be a great way to celebrate the 2010 arrival of your bundle of joy. This sleepy scene would be peaceful to gaze at during late night feedings. $25 in the Little Friends Shoppe.
Kristin Barr: Nesting
Kristin is also from Detroit. The girls she draws always remind me of fairy tales. This beautiful forest creature would be a perfect backdrop for a bedtime story. $20 in Kristin’s Etsy shop.
Andy Kehoe: Budding Youth
Andy Kehoe typically uses earthy tones in his work. While the color palette of this print is a little more subdued, I think it’s sophisticated, and could even work in a parents’ room to remind them of their new found purpose. $30 in Andy’s Etsy shop.
Thanks to Kelly for having me as a guest blogger, and thanks to you for reading!
