So lets face it, we don’t have the same figure as say when we were in high school. Unless you are one of those Makeover’s stories worthy to appear on Jerry Springer or Maury. I’ve always been a bigger girl than average… but for some reason (luckily) I never looked my weight. People always gave me a good 20 lbs less. No complaining here.
Now, I’m not one who is ashamed to say how my I weigh, and its for this reason I am going all out and sharing this info with you. Before the wedding (1.5 years ago) I weighed in at 168lbs and just in August I went on the scale and saw that I was at 197lbs… I KNOW what the hell? oh yes, and I’m short too 5 3′ 3/4 (hey the 3/4 is really important!!!) so my height doesnt help… and well the results my ASS = HUGE! ![]()
I decided to go on a soup diet (and lost 16 pounds in about a months span) Which is really really awesome. The weight loss make me feel really good about myself, so I thought I would share 11 ways to feel great about your body (no matter the size, big / small, short or tall)
- Having sex – but only the good kind, bad sex will make you feel worse
- Being in a good mood makes you feel great about your body and everything else, too
- A partner who thinks you look great helps you love the skin you’re in
- Eating healthy, but not necessaily going on and off those diets that never seem to work (well apart of that soup dies
) - Knowing what makes you feel good helps you feel great about your body
- Eliminating people & media images that make you feel bad
- Participating in activities that you enjoy helps you love the skin you’re in
- Exercising not for weight loss, but for fun and adventure
- A balanced perspective of your abilities, talents, achievements, and self will help you feel great about your body
- Accepting that nobody is as perfect (even the models in the magazines are airbrushed /photoshopped BIG TIME!!! )
And the most important one
- Don’t get pregnant!!!!!!
Hehe… funny but so true. Your body changes during and after after pregnancy, and its something you actually have to accept. When I found out I was pregnant… I literally said to myself “there goes all the weight I just lost” Even the hubby laughed at the whole situation. (as did I ) I was sooooo sure I would be a fat blob pregnant. I mean, nothing in my life indicated otherwise. I thought, after 1 months I’d be over the 200 lbs for sure… and that’s something I have a hard time accepting.
Well… I am shockingly surprised… why? Because I actually lost weight During the first month of the pregnancy… Wassup with that? I’ll get pregnant more often then. (kidding) and after 16 weeks, I’ve only gained 5 lbs. 5 LBS…. do you know what that is???? NOTHING. I know I shouldn’t get overally excited, because I’m pretty certain I’ll gain lots in a few weeks. But still… its kinda fun when your body surprises you like that.
Keep it coming body… (i want the good stuff… aka weight loss) who knows, maybe after I breast feed ill be back in my High School figure. Ya, ok! A girl can dream right?

You can do it!
What a great post! Yeah, the pregnancy thing is tough on body image. For me, it’s really the FIRST time I’ve had serious weight struggles — and I know, boo hoo, but it means I haven’t developed the mental and practical means of coping that other women might have developed a bit earlier in life….
Haven’t read it yet, but I’m very interested in checking out a book called “Does This Pregnancy Look Fat?: The Essential Guide to Loving Your Body After Pregnancy and Baby”, by Claire Mysko. I participated in their survey, and they asked a ton of really insightful questions on body image. Would love to read the results.
Congratulations on the baby!! I love your tips. The soup diet or cabbage diet is great. My mother and I have done this diet several times. As far as the losing weight you may want to look at my website the reshaping line the body magic is basically lipo without the surgery and it drops you 2-3 dress sizes and it is permanent the way you determine the size you take your dress size add 20 then minus 2 and that number is the size you order.
